For County Custody Questions

Contact the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office for the official custody and records route. The published address is 210 N. Market Street, Washington, NC 27889. The main number is (252) 946-7111, listed as a 24-hour number. The public contact page lists info@co.beaufort.nc.us and front-office hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

For a booking record or photograph, identify the name, approximate arrest or booking date, arresting agency, and booking number if known. Ask for the booking record and photograph separately, request electronic copies if available, and ask the custodian to identify any lawful redaction. The current sheriff pages do not publish a booking-photo fee or guaranteed response time.

Where Each Question Belongs

Use the source that controls the record you need:

  • BCSO Detention Center Services identifies the official app-only inmate search and bail-bonding route.
  • The BCSO newsroom and press-release archive publish selected announcements, not a complete booking feed.
  • Washington Police Department handles city incident records at the public address and phone identified in the Washington guide, (252) 946-1444.
  • Belhaven Police is reached at (252) 943-2242, with town administration at (252) 943-3055, to confirm the records custodian.
  • Chocowinity Police is reached at (252) 946-2882. Its page says police reports are picked up at Town Hall for $6.00 per copy, a report fee rather than a booking-photo fee.
  • The Beaufort County court directory lists the Clerk and Magistrate contacts for court-process questions.
  • NCDAC covers state prison, probation, parole, and historical state records, not county-jail information.

Questions About a Court Case

Use the North Carolina eCourts Portal for public case information, then contact the Clerk when a certified record or clarification is needed. Portal results can lag a booking, use another spelling, or omit juvenile, sealed, expunged, restricted, or unreturned-warrant material. A booking photo and a court disposition are separate records.

If the question concerns a warrant, the research did not verify a public Beaufort County warrant portal. Contact BCSO, the Clerk at (252) 940-4000, or the Magistrates’ office at (252) 940-4019. A person checking their own legal status should contact a lawyer and use a lawful court route.

Messages About Outside Pages

A third-party publisher’s page is controlled by that publisher. Preserve the exact URL and date, then use its documented free correction route if the entry is wrong, duplicated, expunged, sealed, or concerns the wrong person. The underlying government record must be corrected through BCSO, a municipal department, the Clerk, NCDAC, BOP, or ICE as appropriate. Search engines can refresh an obsolete result after the source changes, but they do not expunge the underlying record.

Do not send sensitive personal information through an unverified form. This site cannot remove a government record, guarantee a publisher response, or offer legal advice.
